Who’s making a real difference for our communities and our climate? This year, Sachamama is giving the community a chance to help answer that question.
Sachamama, in partnership with EFE, has opened 20 spots for community applicants to be considered for the eighth edition of The 100 Most Committed Latinos to Climate Action 2026, an annual recognition of Latinos turning climate action into meaningful change.
Each year, the initiative highlights Latino leaders working across different fields to advance solutions, build knowledge, and mobilize their communities toward a more sustainable future. The 2026 honorees will be announced in October as part of International Day of Climate Action.
Past editions have recognized community leaders, public- and private-sector professionals, scientists, communicators, activists, and members of Indigenous and local communities whose work is helping address today’s environmental and climate challenges.
For 2026, Sachamama is opening the application process to everyone. Anyone can submit an application for a leader whose work, track record, and impact deserve greater recognition. People doing meaningful work within the climate movement can also apply themselves.
Applications are open in two categories: Communication — Environmental Influencers and Activism — Community Impact Leaders.
Applications will be accepted from September 2 through September 10 and will join candidates submitted by more than 30 organizations participating in the initiative.
Once this first stage is complete, candidates will have the opportunity to receive support from the community. Those who advance to the group of 200 will become nominees and will be evaluated by an international panel of leaders with experience in climate communications, environmental rights, sustainability policy, scientific research, and civil society engagement.
At its core, this list is about making sure the people doing the work are seen. With the 2026 edition, Sachamama is spotlighting the leaders turning climate action into real solutions while expanding the conversation about who gets recognized as a climate leader—and the many ways Latinos are leading change in and for their communities.
