Like her, there are thousands of people, especially Hispanics, facing similar situations nationwide.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMany of them are caught in the conflict of trying to keep their energy bill low while also staying comfortable, cool, and safe inside their homes,\u201d<\/span><\/i> said <\/span>Mayra Cruz<\/b>, who participated in the study.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

She mentioned a case where a person with a heart condition turned off their air conditioning to avoid a high bill, and another individual who couldn’t afford to repair theirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Energy Efficiency for All (EEFA) initiative<\/a>\u00a0found that the Hispanic community faces an average energy burden 24 percent higher than that of white households.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhile achieving an equitable energy future requires multifaceted strategies, the introduction of household energy rebates is a crucial step in the right direction,\u201d<\/span><\/i> stated<\/span> Energy.gov<\/a>, an office of the Department of Energy.<\/p>\n

Hence the importance of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which provides incentives to help households make energy-saving improvements and reduce costs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The law includes $391 billion<\/strong> to support clean energy and address climate change, including $8.8 billion<\/strong> in rebates for home electrification and energy efficiency projects.<\/span><\/p>\n

These rebates for home energy will assist Americans in reducing energy bills, upgrading their equipment to clean energy, enhancing energy efficiency, and mitigating indoor and outdoor air pollution, as stated by Energy.gov.<\/span><\/p>\n

The U.S. Department of Energy<\/b> estimates that these rebates will save households up to $1 billion annually on energy bills.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Energy.gov, investments in energy efficiency can assist families in conserving energy, leading to substantial reductions in utility bills, all while enhancing health and comfort.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNew technologies, such as low-consumption electric heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, have the potential to save average households up to $6,500 in operating cost savings over the equipment\u2019s lifespan, or $650 annually on their utility bills, while reducing exposure to volatile fossil fuel prices,\u201d<\/span><\/i>\u00a0 a representative of the department details.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, a new state program for low- and moderate-income households will provide instant rebates for new and efficient electric equipment, which <\/span>\u201cin some cases will be sufficient to cover the total cost of the new equipment\u201d:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Up to $8,000 for a heating and air conditioning heat pump, $1,750 for an efficient water heat pump, and $1,600 for insulation improvements to prevent energy waste.<\/b><\/p>\n

The state program for comprehensive home energy efficiency upgrades provides rebates of <\/span>up to $4,000 for projects that achieve a 35% or greater reduction in energy use and $2,000 for projects with savings of 20% or more<\/b>. These rebates are doubled for low- and moderate-income homes.<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, homeowners can improve their insulation to lower heating and cooling demands.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Inflation Reduction Act includes a 30% tax credit for energy efficiency improvements, up to a limit of $1,200.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For instance, if you utilized $1,200 of credit for insulation in one year and acquired new windows in the same year, you would reach the limit only with insulation and forfeit credit for the windows. <\/span>

<\/span>Windows with drafts are often a significant source of energy leaks in homes, particularly in older residences. <\/span>

<\/span>The IRA also provides incentives for various new energy-efficient appliances and other energy improvements, allowing homeowners to claim the credit for their purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n

Individuals can also claim these credits multiple times. For instance, if they purchase new windows for the living room in one year and for the dining room the following year:<\/span><\/p>\n
